Her Photos Inspired Me

Where do you get your inspiration from? My friend and mentor, Jan Verhoeff recently sent me photos taken on a drive around the Spanish Peaks region of Colorado. She knows I’m an artist and I love to create. She asked me to create some unique artwork for her featuring these photos. Her photos inspired me.

Photos of Monument Lake, Stonewall, Rimrock, Timbers, and other notable landmarks. Views of gorgeous blue mountains rising in the distance. They were so beautiful, I really want to see them in person.

We discussed her needs and wants over the course of a couple of weeks (we were both busy, and having trouble finding time to connect).

Yesterday, I was feeling inspired, and it all came together into this artwork, combining her photos with just the right chunky font and a subtle shadow effect on the edges of each letter:

Oh, the fun creating designs with this font and these photos! I created a taller version too:

Jan liked the artwork so much, she’s already bought some mugs and a tote bag from the collection I designed for her.

She said the color of the font for Colorado reminded her of freshly poured melted silver before it’s all polished and pretty. I think it turned out amazing, don’t you?

And I love her photos. They really inspired me. I think they do a great job of representing the Spanish Peaks. I’m so inspired, I plan to make more artwork like this for other places I have photos for…
