For Easter, I want to share some special fabric designs featuring natural and dyed eggs as well as other designs. It may take me a little while to get them all posted. I have quite a few! If there’s something that you’d particularly like, please contact me.
Easter Eggs and Cherry Blossoms
Lilac
These fabric designs are more subdued and delicate, more traditional.
Pysanky Easter Eggs
Fabric Designs
Ukrainian women dye Easter eggs in special folk art designs called Pysanky. Several generations ago, one side of my family immigrated from Ukraine to Canada, and then down in the U.S. They were Mennonites, originally from the Low Countries (probably from Belgium), but I think they would have liked this artwork.
Pysanky Triangles
Fabric Designs
Each of these designs has a special meaning. The stylized floral design is a dogwood, symbol of Christ’s death and resurrection. The triangles are decorated with straight lines for furrows, wavy lines for water, dots for seeds, and–I forget what the nesting triangles represent. The triangles also create pinwheel patterns.
I will be adding more Easter designs here as I have opportunity. Keep checking back.
